I needed some new compression shorts due to losing some weight last year. My old under armour shorts were now too large. I have worn under armour compression shorts exclusively since the company invented them. I was a little worried by some of the less-then-stellar reviews I had read about the latest product. Sadly those reviews are true. If you have worn some of the earlier under armour compression shorts you will certainly notice the lower quality of today's product. Thinner (way thinner) material, providing less support. Cheaper material, polyester vs nylon in the old stuff. I still have the first pair of under armour shorts I bought. They are twice as heavy as the new ones. I give this product three stars because basically, they have gone from being top-of-line, to just average. They still do the job, but they are no better then any other major brand of compression shorts. If you never got a chance to wear the company's original product, you probably won't have anything to grouse about. But the new stuff is not worth a premium price. I bought 4 pairs (2 six inch inseam, and 2 nine inch inseam). Paid about 15.00/pair and 12.00/pair respectively. This is about what they are worth. List is still 25 - 40 $. I would cheerfully pay that for the stuff they used to make, no way for these new shorts. But like I said, they do the job OK, and other brands seem to be pretty much the same stuff, these are good if you can get them on sale. I am 5'10" 165 lbs 34 waist. The large size works well for me. I run 6-8 miles 2-3 times a week. If you have any problem with your thighs chaffing when you run, get the 9 inch inseam. The 6 inch will not help prevent chaffing as it's too short, and will ride up a little when you run. When I think about all the pain I got from old style athletic supporters, I am grateful to have these at all. The modern compression short is a god-sent to those of us who were not born with a runner's body.Somebody needs to make a chafe free product.Let me begin this review by openly stating my rediculous size. I am a 42" inseam and a 28" leg length. Similar size to a squatty box UPS would use to ship a toilet in. My legs rub together like I was trying to start a crotch fire. I chafe, I live in Ohio, I love to golf. These three things make appropriate underwear a near impossibility. So, when I first bought these I was thrilled to find a product that prevented chafe. And then I bought about 5 more pairs (XXL) and realized a year later that unfortunately the material breaks down and eventually the fibers bundle up in the crotch like hard little fabric stones, and this is what causes the chafe. So, either buy new each time or expect only a few good wears before the chafe possibility returns. Great product in many ways and great for some trunk warmth with the heat gear, but alas, not perfect. I will either have to lose some weight or buy these new every few months. Damnit. And, what is up with the enormously uncomfortable label that digs into the skin in the back? I now have a tramp stamp area rash all the time. Itchy. I've begun folding them over and riding high and dirty.I'm a first time Crossfitter with a little bit extra... well everywhere, which is why I'm doing cross fit to begin with. I started like most people did using what I had. After a few sessions that ended in weggies that required a proctologist to remove, I decided to get some compression shorts. I did my online research and found that the Under Armour HG Comp Shorts were universally liked by most guys. I was worried because when you're fat, spandex really isn't your color. However; I bit the bullet and got these hot pink babies. Ridiculously loud color aside, they fit really true to form. I'm a 38 and I got the XL. They fit comfortably, though the do fold over at the belly, although that blame resides more on cookies than Under Armour. They don't ride, they fit nicely, they prevent chaffing (which is why I gave them 5 stars), and most importantly they keep everything where its supposed to be. Age and gravity will do enough damage, I don't need jumping jacks to hurry it along. I liked this pair so much I got a second pare in neon green. My thinking is that if my spanks are loud enough, no one will hear my girly sobs during burpies.I'm actually a female and purchased these to wear as my shorts for cross country because our team shorts were too short in length and I continuously would get thigh chafing.Cons:•Waist is a little too tight, but nothing unmanageable•Material is a little thinner than expectedPros:•Legs/butt fit great!•Long enough to avoid chafed thighs (a little longer than I'd like, but they're men's so it's expected)*Side note: since they're men's, they will fit more as a "high waisted" spandex for a woman which I find as a good thingI have fat thighs and they help greatly in cutting back on friction and chafing when I run or work out. The elastic waist band can roll down sometimes though, but maybe I just need to lose more weight.I really like these. They're much better quality than the N*#e one's I've owned. The material breathes well and doesn't ride. There are lots of color options. The only complaint I have is they run a little on the small side. I always wear a medium, and it's never baggy or tight. With these the medium was a little tight. I'm a size 30-31 waist btw. It's not uncomfortable though, and it's probably a good thing, because as they wear they will not get baggy. I would definitely recommend trying them though.I love these compression shorts from Under Armour. I've owned several over the years, and keep coming back to Under Armour (despite having tried several competitor brands). These are a bit on the shorter side (above the knee, maybe mid-thigh?), but they are nice, feel great and do not chafe.I would suggest though (trial and error from years of owning these) that you do not dry them in the dryer; just wash as usual in washer, but hang dry them. I feel that the dryer makes the elastic band not last as long; maybe from the constant heat. Just my opinion. :)I bought these for doing the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge. After suffering with regular boxer shorts riding up and chafing the skin right off my most upper thigh next to my delicates, I thought I would give these a try.I can honestly say, throughout the whole walk, I wasn't even aware of them! No chafing, no pain, no sweating, and at the end of over 20 miles of rough terrain, the legs hadn't rolled up one bit!I've worn the same pair for long and shorter walks for 1.5 years now and they still look new and still perform!Absolutely delighted with them, and they're worth every penny. The Mrs also says they feel delightful to touch as a bonus!Fantastic product for anyone wanting that extra bit of protection when at the gym or outside running. I bought these shorts to stop the chaffing of my rugby sized thighs and it worked a treat - no more soreness after a workout and continues to provide that protection without any loss in shape or strength.Highly recommend this to anyone with similar sort of problems, you will not be disappointed. These are great and has good compression to it, except that I wish it was a bit longer to cover all the quads/hamstrings. When playing basketball, or even doing some running it would keep slipping up so that it only covers half of my upper leg. However, the compression is good and it has great breathability too to keep my legs cool during sport. My first pair of compression wear. As a fatty I bought a large pair of mens as I knew womens would not fit. And despite being pants (not noticable) they fit really well. The only downside is the humugous label inside which scratches the he'll out of youBrilliant shorts. Used for long distance trail running. Good fit, comfortable and the greatest thing is no more inner thigh chaffing!! Recommend to friends who purchased these and are very happy too. Good value for money. Buy them!
