I needed some new compression shorts due to losing some weight last year. My old under armour shorts were now too large. I have worn under armour compression shorts exclusively since the company invented them. I was a little worried by some of the less-then-stellar reviews I had read about the latest product. Sadly those reviews are true. If you have worn some of the earlier under armour compression shorts you will certainly notice the lower quality of today's product. Thinner (way thinner) material, providing less support. Cheaper material, polyester vs nylon in the old stuff. I still have the first pair of under armour shorts I bought. They are twice as heavy as the new ones. I give this product three stars because basically, they have gone from being top-of-line, to just average. They still do the job, but they are no better then any other major brand of compression shorts. If you never got a chance to wear the company's original product, you probably won't have anything to grouse about. But the new stuff is not worth a premium price. I bought 4 pairs (2 six inch inseam, and 2 nine inch inseam). Paid about 15.00/pair and 12.00/pair respectively. This is about what they are worth. List is still 25 - 40 $. I would cheerfully pay that for the stuff they used to make, no way for these new shorts. But like I said, they do the job OK, and other brands seem to be pretty much the same stuff, these are good if you can get them on sale. I am 5'10" 165 lbs 34 waist. The large size works well for me. I run 6-8 miles 2-3 times a week. If you have any problem with your thighs chaffing when you run, get the 9 inch inseam. The 6 inch will not help prevent chaffing as it's too short, and will ride up a little when you run. When I think about all the pain I got from old style athletic supporters, I am grateful to have these at all. The modern compression short is a god-sent to those of us who were not born with a runner's body.
